The Friends of Newtown School (FNS) is a voluntary charity (no. 1085120) parent teachers association providing support and assistance to Newtown CofE Primary School. The group first formed in the spring of 1991 and many parents and grandparents have served on the committee and helped enrich the experiences of our childeren here over the last 30 years. As a voluntary organisation we rely on parents, teachers, local people and businesses to help generate additional funding and general support for this Ofsted Outstanding School.
The School
Newtown CofE Primary School is a based in rural North Shropshire and received the Ofsted Outstanding School Award in October 2013. The school currently has 120+ pupils and serves the numerous small villages within its catchment area. In addition to the Ofsted Outstanding School Award the school has also committed to the Food for Life Partnership, Safer School, Healthy Schools, ICT, Music Mark, Active Mark for PE and sports. The school is also focused on sustainability and the environment with dedicated wildlife and vegetable & fruit areas.Getting involved
The Friends of Newtown School always welcomes and encourages new members, to ensure there is a breadth of representative opinions from parents with pupils at the school in all year groups and to capitalise on the talents, skillsets and experience of our parents, staff, local people and business.
Our meetings are open to everyone, so why not come along to one and listen to the range of topics being discussed - you can contribute as much or as little as you wish and chose to get involved as much or as little as you wish. The meetings are informal and relaxed, held 2 to 3 times a term, in the evening. Dates of forthcoming meetings and events you may also like to help with can be found on the events page.
We welcome any form of contribution you are able to give be it your time, expertise or a monetary donation. If you feel you can contribute in anyway please feel free to contact us on or 01939 233353. Alternatively you can contact the school and express your interest.
